Well, its been about 40 days since I got back from my trip around the world. Can you believe it? Forty days already!
When I first got home I was able to spend a lot of time with family, including a weekend visit from my folks complete with a party at my brother’s house where we ate food from all the places I visited, and I handed out souvenirs. You know… the important stuff!
I visited my other brother’s family in Newport, and got to spend some time with my sister-in-law, nieces and nephew at the Yaquina Head lighthouse, and on a beach that I think was specifically designed for throwing rocks into the ocean.
I’ve spent time with my extended family and my friends too; although, I haven’t gotten to see everyone yet! And I still have plenty of souvenirs to hand out! And I’ve been able to catch up on a bunch of movies that I missed while I was away. Although I still need to see the Greatest Showman, which is apparently the most popular movie in America. However, I did get to see the Broadway musical Hamilton when it toured through Portland; and it was AMAZING! Seriously, its downright inspiring; it makes you want to be build a nation from the ground up.
But mainly I’ve been just back to normal life; paying my bills, doing my taxes, and working. I started looking for gainful employment about two days after I got home, and found a job within a month, which is such a blessing. I’ve been working there for a little over week now and I’m still in training, but I think it will be a good job. If nothing else the cool factor is through the roof on this one! I work for a company that owns and operates helicopters. And not just any helicopters but the giant firefighting and sky-crane helicopters! There is a bit of commute to my new job, but luckily the drive is through the Oregon countryside, which means I get beautiful views to keep my company.
After I was offered the job I took a little trip to my favorite beach spot to celebrate. It is actually one of my favorite places in the whole world! And I can’t actually say that now that I’ve been all the way around the world. It’s even close enough to Seaside that I can dominate at the arcade to win fabulous prizes and candy! To be honest, my cousin Tiffany (who travelled with me in Paris) came out for a night and we hit the arcade up together; the picture below is our combined haul. But still, pretty impressive!
I spend a lot of my commute time thinking about where I want to visit next… you see, the thing about travelling is that it just makes you want to explore more of the world! I can’t wait to see where I go next!
